VelDella Beatty - The creative mind behind Pretee Little Picnics

Born and raised in Detroit, MI, VelDella Beatty became a talented city girl with a passion for event planning and an eye for all things PRETEE. Six years ago, her family made their way out to Las Vegas where VelDella leveraged her fun, outgoing and creative spirit to launch Pretee Little Picnics, a Las Vegas Luxury Picnic company. This business isn’t her only baby, she is also a mother of two (ages 11 & 14), whom she absolutely adores. When VelDella is not providing her luxury picnic experiences, you can find her reading poetry, listening to audio books, crafting & creating and spending time with her children.

Las Vegas Parents Club’s Interview with Pretee Little Picnics

VelDella, it’s been a pleasure to meet you and work with you on our launch event. You have such attention to detail and really WOWed us all with the PRETEE set up for our guests. We really were proud to work with you. Can you tell our readers a bit about Prettee Little Picnics?

“Pretee Little Picnics is a luxury experience that is designed with your time and celebration in mind. This is not your ordinary picnic. We provide you with an intimate setting that allows you to disconnect from this fast- paced world and indulge in a moment of simply existing. We create a uniquely themed picnic for any occasion that you choose whether it is date night for two, or a large event of up to twenty who are celebrating a special occasion. PLP knows all the best spots in our beautiful parks, and we will even meet you at your desired location. We are also happy to set up for you in the comfort of your own backyard and can accommodate both indoor and outdoor celebrations. Pretee Little Picnics can host all celebrations from birthday parties for kids to adults, wedding anniversaries, company events, and our favorite - marriage proposals! Proposals have been our most popular request as of late and we thrive on special holidays like Valentine's Day and Easter. Everybody loves to capture the beauty of these events so we now offer to include professional photography.”

What drove you to start Pretee Little Picnics and why are you so passionate about this space?

“As a teenager, I fantasized about becoming an event planner. I had planned and hosted numerous events from baby showers to birthday parties. With that experience I decided to take my creativity to another level. I came up with a unique idea that would create a luxury experience for people to bask in intimate moments. My idea was to create an ambiance that allowed visitors and locals alike the time to unplug, reconnect and make memories for all occasions. I chose micro events as my niche because they provide my clients with a sense of intimacy. Because I now reside in a location that is bringing people from all over the world to explore, I want to contribute and share my talents by giving them a new experience to add to their time spent in beautiful Las Vegas! I can really show tourists another side of this city, not just the strip where tourists spend most of their time. So, Pretee Little Picnics was born.”

Why did you choose to move to Vegas?

“My family and I decided it was time for a change in scenery. We took our first family trip to Las Vegas in 2017 and instantly fell in love with the big bright lights and trendy attractions. The great weather was a plus. Growing up in a state where there are more cold days than sunny, I knew that I would need to find a place where I could tap into my full potential of being an event planner. It took that one visit for us to make the life changing decision to trade in the snowstorms in Michigan for Sunny Nevada.”

What advice would you give to somebody starting their own picnic business?

“The best advice I could give to someone starting a new picnic business is to be patient and do not give up. Planning and execution is very time consuming but also fun and rewarding. Perfecting your craft takes time. Do your research, stay consistent and always be open to constructive criticism. Make connections with local vendors and especially photographers. Joey Brown Photos has been an amazing asset to my business. Picnic business requires a passionate person who loves to create experiences for others and that is what I love to do. I live by the motto, “if you choose a job that you love, you will never work a day in your life”.”

Where do you see Pretee Little Picnics in five years?

In the next five years, I plan to continue creating micro events with Pretee Little Picnics while adding tablescaping to my resume. I envision bringing a touch of luxury to my customers' homes and dressing their tables for the holidays and special occasions. I also plan to build a team for expansion and purchase an event space where I can host multiple micro events simultaneously. Be on the lookout for Pretee Little Parties, coming soon!

Where are your favorite local spots to spend time with your family?

During our down time, my family and I like to take walks at Mountain’s Edge Regional Park or take a hike at Exploration Peak Park. My daughter and I enjoy quality time making slime at Slime Time, or enjoying ice cream at Poppy’s ice cream parlor.
