“Ayooo my name is Angel Khonesavanh!” We had the opportunity to sit down with our favorite Lao boy in Las Vegas who is a well-known Las Vegas foodie and content creator.

Angel is based right here in Las Vegas, and he’s not only passionate about producing engaging content but also has a rich cultural background. Born and raised in the city, his Southeast Asian heritage is evident, with family roots extending to Thailand and Laos. He even took our editor-in-chief out to a meal at Lao Kitchen to experience the delicious and authentic taste of his favorite dishes.

Cultural upbringing played a significant role in shaping Angel’s identity, as he was raised in a Lao household. His daily life involved speaking the Lao language and visiting a Lao temple, enriching the connection to his roots.

Although his journey into content creation began in early 2022 with collaborations, it wasn't until March 2023 that Angel took the leap to become a full-time content creator. Before stepping into the world of content, he had a career in medical administration. He accumulated extensive experience, serving as an office manager in multiple specialties and was a skilled medical biller.

But it's not all about work for this Las Vegas Lao Boy. Family is at the core of his life, and he cherishes moments spent with loved ones. Regular get-togethers and parties are a common occurrence. In addition to family, he has a circle of close friends who also hold a special place in his heart.

Beyond Angel’s social life, he has a passion for cooking, …even though he hasn’t had much time for it recently- hey, life of a foodie! Personal growth and self-improvement are driving forces in his life. Angel immerses himself into podcasts by inspirational figures like Jay Shetty, Tony Robbins, and The Ladies Coach. Currently, he’s actively learning and up-leveling skills like graphic design, DSLR photography, and advanced video editing. Angel showcases this dedication to self-improvement and commitment to his evolving creative journey.

Tell us a little about your foodie adventure - how did you get into it and what has your journey been like?

“My foodie adventure has always been a thing. I’ve been taking photos of food and doing yelp since I could remember. For my friends I’ve been a personal resource for recommendations. I’ve just always loved food and the entire dining experience. Not just eating but really dining, interaction with staff, trying new food, cocktails (before), ambience. I love the time I spent with people over dinner or a meal or cooking.

I started making Reels and TikTok for fun maybe end of 2021. I went to Shokku Ramen with my best friend and made a Reel, their social media manager saw it, and he DM’d me about trying another account he managed. That was @amirhangry. I worked as a medical biller and an office manager for a med spa and had a flexible schedule so I was able to attend different collaborations and shoots. Certain people who really welcomed me are @amirhangry @dae_by_daelv @bitesizedmultimedia @studiosealv @lvfoodgoddess @jayteetakesabite.

I was never looking into become a content creator but it was a great creative outlet for me. I started doing social media management for a local bakery called Pasabocas & realized I loved connecting with local business owners and chefs. Being able to help tell their stories and to have that connection really made me root for them in a different way.”

What do you love most about Foodie Life? Does an experience stand out to you?

“What I love about the foodie life is that I started out being a fan of local spots that I frequented in the past and now I’m working with them in some capacity currently. For example; I used to love ‘Island Flavor’ & for me to be able to film there was amazing. That’s happened with a ton of places that I had been eating at prior to all of this: Aloha Kitchen, BB.Q Chicken, Parsley, Taco Y Taco! That almost feels sureal for me because I’m a huge fan and regular patron.

A really amazing experience for me was meeting Dominque Ansel at his Caesar’s Palace location. What a culinary icon in this modern world where the Cronut has spawned so many imitations.”

Local Asian Food Spots

For Dim Sum

For Dim Sum I love Orchids Garden but more recently, it’s New Asian BBQ. I’ve frequented Orchids Garden much more but now have fallen in love with New Asian BBQ. I just love dim sum and my family loves dim sum. I’ve had so many great memories at Orchids Garden and it just always hits the spot. Both are good spots with kids, for sure.

For Vietnamese Food

Viet Noodle Bar is my favorite Vietnamese spot. I go here for beef pho, egg rolls, and spring rolls. I prefer pho over ramen and I love their broth here and they put a lot of protein. I never have to add anything to my pho and I go here all year round. This would be good for kids, kids love noodle soup!

For Lao Food

Lao Kitchen is my favorite Lao Spot! Jumpa is a close second but I love the homestyle dishes. Unlike Italian food, Mexican food or Chinese food,  I never lived in a world where Lao food was made in restaurants, where I could order take out. I’d have to make it myself or my family would ,or I’d get it at a friends party. That’s special to me to have that nowadays. This would be good for kids!

Spread at Lao Kitchen
