We had a chance to sit down with Emily and learn more about the practice

“I offer homebirth services, well women’s care, advanced doula support, placenta encapsulation, prenatal and postpartum pilates, and childbirth education. I am currently supporting families in Las Vegas and Henderson.

When you work with me, you'll get guidance to make empowered decisions throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. I follow evidence-based guidelines and the midwifery model of care.

What drove you to start your own practice?

“I wanted more autonomy over how I was showing up in my own practice. As a newer midwife and having a young son, I take a smaller load of clients, only 1-2 home births a month so that way I am able to be fully present in my practice and provide personalized support for each family that I serve as a homebirth midwife”.

Since this may be a new space for many readers, can you share a few perks of going with a midwife?

“It’s a Non-medicalized care model. Midwives practice evidence based care and autonomy over your body and experience and we believe in birth’s physiological processes in being normal and non-emergent. We work with educating and supporting the body’s wellness in pregnancy and postpartum on a whole body level. Focusing on nutrition, movement, sleep and preventing symptoms versus placing a bandaid on them or medically managing them. We also have the network to consult with a higher level of care when needed.”

What would be a few perks of going with a Doula?

“You are pretty much getting a birth bestie or a fairy god doula.  You get someone who is going to check in on you from time to time in between prenatal visits and is there to help with any questions or concerns that may arise. Having a Doula by your side creates a safe space for you to feel most comfortable and supported during your labor and birth! Doulas are also amazing help in postpartum with newborn care.
